PRIVATE RESIDENCE WINDOWS

LOUISVILLE, KY

We were asked by the client to create windows for a sitting/entertaining room that would allow light into the room but block the view to the other side, which was a garage. Our solution was to used etched glass in several tones by sandblasting and acid etching in a composition that introduced gentle movement, on both pieces of glass of an insulated glass unit. The two panels of glass were separated by 1/2” which creates a dynamic appearance of the overlapping forms shifting as the viewer moved their viewing perspective. Within the field of etched glass are diagonal lines created with cobalt blue faceted glass jewels laminated to the interior. All of the etching was to the inside of the insulated glass so it would not be soiled by oil or dirt, while the laminated blue glass jewels are laminated on the surface toward the room to provide a slight textural relief.
